When danger is detected or the bus overturns/submerges, the system automatically drives a servo‑powered hammer to crack a side window safely, while LEDs and a buzzer warn passengers, creating a fast escape path even if doors jam or people panic.

These emergency exits are provided for every window seat, ensuring swift evacuation without congestion, allowing multiple passengers to exit simultaneously and reducing fatal bottlenecks. The importance of this system is underscored by tragic incidents like the Kaveri bus fire in Kurnool in October 2025, where delayed evacuation led to many deaths.
This idea was chosen because it confronts the most urgent and life-threatening issue in Indian bus safety: evacuation delays caused by overcrowding, blocked or inaccessible exits, and panic during emergencies. Unlike other safety measures that depend on passenger awareness or individual action, this system operates automatically and inclusively for all passengers—children, the elderly, and people with disabilities alike. Moreover, it is cost-effective and suitable for retrofitting India’s vast, predominantly older bus fleet, making it an immediately practical and scalable solution.
