The automated ropeway spraying system is a low-cost, easy-to-install device that drags a small spray carriage along a lightweight cable (ropeway) strung across a field or along crop rows. The carriage carries a pump, a chemical tank, and a spray boom/nozzle array. It travels automatically along the ropeway, delivering a uniform, metered spray of pesticides while eliminating the need for farmers to carry heavy backpack sprayers – physical strain, and exposure to chemicals.
Description
Farmers who rely on backpack sprayers face severe back pain, long hours of manual work, and dangerous exposure to chemicals. To solve this, we are developing an affordable automated ropeway-based spraying system that can apply pesticides and weedicides safely and efficiently—without the farmer having to carry any weight or walk through the field.
The system uses a simple ropeway stretched across the field on which a small automated spray unit travels. It delivers uniform spray, reduces labour, and protects farmers from harmful chemical exposure. This low-cost solution is designed especially for small and marginal farmers.
We are currently seeking financial support to build a working prototype, test it with farmers, and refine it into a scalable solution that can improve farm productivity and protect farmers’ health.
