The heavily manual documentation of health and nutrition data by Anganwadi workers in India imposes a big burden upon them. They are still using heavy physical registers which are inefficient means to record the growth, vaccination schedules, and nutritional status of children numbering into dozens.

1. Inefficiency: Manual work takes a lot of time and is prone to mistakes by the people doing it.
2. Data Silos: Physical records that are difficult to analyze quickly delay the process of identifying malnutrition trends.
3. Lack of Portability: It is not convenient to carry several registers with you when you go for house visits.

Poshan Sahayak is an innovative, AI-based virtual conversational agent that provides digital assistant features to Anganwadi workers. It substitutes the heavy registers with a conversation-based user interface that can be reached through mobile phones. Thus, the workers may not only feed in data but also extract the needed information and get immediate health updates just by communicating with the bot, hence enabling data collection at the grassroots level to be in sync with monitoring at the higher

1. Conversational Data Entry: In case a worker was previously overwhelmed with the idea of having to input data into intricate forms, now the situation is different because all he or she has to do is to write a short message or say it aloud such as “Update weight for Raju, 5 years old, to 18kg,” and the chatbot does the work of updating the records.
2. Automated Health Analysis: Once the child’s height and weight figures are input, the program will immediately figure out BMI and check the numbers against growth charts provided by WHO so as to point out those kids who are very thin, short for their age, or underweight.
3. Vaccination Reminders: This tool keeps up with vaccine schedules and informs the worker about which kids are waiting for shots during the next visit.
4. Multilingual Support: The system is engineered to interact in the vernacular tongues (e.g., Hindi) so that every user can carry on the session without discomfort.
5. Digital Dashboard: It helps to focus on those who need the most help by creating easy visualization such as (“In this area, 3 children are in the ‘Red Zone’ for malnutrition”).

• 4. How It Works

It functions with a four-step closed-loop process:

• Authentication: Using his identity card a staff member of the Anganwadi center signs in to either a WhatsApp or internet-based chatting tool ensuring security.

Input: The data was given by the worker through usual talk.

Example: “Register new child: Name renu, Age 3, Weight 12kg.”

• Processing: A server-side program (most probably Python) is working on this message; it determines what the text is about and accordingly it saves the data in a secure cloud database. Besides, it does the referencing automatically against the agreed-upon growth charts.
• Response & Action: The digital interlocutor acknowledges and encourages continuation of the productive work.

Bot Response: “Information loaded. By the way: usha’s weight is perfect. Her upcoming vaccination is scheduled for Dec ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌15th.”
