The Mission Public transportation is the heartbeat of our cities, but safety remains a critical concern. Human error—whether it’s fatigue, distraction, or negligence—is the leading cause of road accidents. We believe technology can change that. We have designed and built a fully functional Smart Bus Prototype that acts as an intelligent guardian, using advanced sensors to automatically detect dangers and prevent accidents before they occur.
How It Works Our prototype isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a comprehensive safety ecosystem. By integrating a network of specialized sensors controlled by a central microcontroller, the bus actively monitors the driver, the passengers, and the road conditions simultaneously.
Key Safety Systems:

🚫 Zero Tolerance Alcohol Lock: Safety starts before the engine even turns on. Our integrated Alcohol Sensor analyzes the driver’s breath. If any trace of alcohol is detected, the system automatically locks the ignition, making drunk driving physically impossible.

😴 Driver & Conductor Fatigue Monitor: Long shifts can lead to dangerous drowsiness. We utilize Drowsiness Sensors and eye-tracking technology to monitor both the driver and the conductor. At the first sign of closed eyes or sluggish behavior, a loud alarm triggers to wake them instantly.

⚠️ “Hands-In” Laser Safety Grid: Passengers often lean out of windows, risking severe injury from passing vehicles. Our innovative Laser Light System creates a virtual curtain across the windows. If a hand or head breaks this beam, an immediate alert sounds, warning the passenger and the driver to take action.

📊 Smart Crowd Management: Overloading is a major safety hazard. Two IR Sensors installed at the gate automatically count passengers entering and exiting. This provides real-time capacity data, preventing the bus from exceeding its safe load limit.

📡 Blind Spot & Collision Avoidance: Navigating large vehicles is difficult. Our system uses Ultrasonic Sensors to act as a digital radar, detecting obstacles in blind spots and alerting the driver to prevent collisions during parking or traffic navigation.
