The Solar Smart Mobility Assistant (SSMA) is an affordable, solar-powered safety device designed to make mobility safer for everyone—children, cyclists, elderly people, wheelchair users, rickshaw pullers, and even pedestrians. This small device can easily be attached to bicycles, wheelchairs, school bags, rickshaws, trolleys, or walking sticks. It automatically lights up at night using an LDR sensor, helping improve visibility on dark roads. It also includes an ultrasonic sensor that detects nearby obstacles and activates a buzzer, alerting the user and preventing accidents. SSMA solves major safety and mobility problems such as lack of night lights in cycles/wheelchairs, difficulty in charging devices, and the absence of affordable alert systems for the poor and elderly. Since it runs entirely on solar energy and uses very low-cost components, it becomes accessible to everyone, especially in rural and low-income communities.
