Description
Suryakalash: Hybrid Solar Water Purifier
Affordable • Sustainable • Safe Drinking Water for All
Suryakalash is a low-cost, hybrid solar water purification system designed to provide safe drinking water using sunlight as the primary energy source. It is ideal for homes, rural areas, schools, and emergency conditions where clean water access is limited.
How It Works
1. Solar Thermal Pasteurization (Primary Stage)
-
Uses concentrated solar heating + thermal storage
-
Raises water temperature to ~65°C, enough to destroy harmful pathogens
-
Works without battery power
-
Completely renewable and eco-friendly
2. UV-C LED Sterilization (Backup Stage)
-
When sunlight is low, an LDR sensor detects reduced brightness
-
System automatically activates a low-power UV-C LED for final disinfection
-
Microcontroller and sensors run on a small rechargeable Li-ion battery
-
Ensures water safety even during cloudy days or evenings
3. Safety First
-
UV-C placed inside a sealed chamber
-
Manual kill switch for emergency shut-off
-
Ensures protection from UV light exposure
