AEROFLUX introduces a hybrid air circulation technology that integrates solar-thermal conversion, phase change materials, and electrohydrodynamic thrust into one compact system. HOW DOES IT WORK ?

INLET
A thermal plume forms inside the chamber due to the heat emitted by the paraffin wax. Due to its increased buoyancy it travels upwards through the spiral. The EDH Thrusters are present in order to accelerate the flow of air. Due to the region of low pressure formed, outside air rushes in and the cycle repeats

INSIDE THE HELIX
As the air travels up the helix The curved geometry forces the air to change direction, generating strong, swirling motions creating Dean vortices, which are counter-rotating fluid vortices that form in curved channels. These vortices occur when the high-velocity fluid in the center of the channel is pushed outwards by centrifugal force, creating a pressure imbalance and initiating a secondary flow. In such a system, the thermal energy of the particles gets converted into kinetic energy

OUTLET
As the air exits the helix, it passes through a venturi narrow hole, due to Bernoulli’s principle, the velocity of the air increases and its temperature decreases allowing for a cool gust of air to emanate from the top

EDH THRUSTER

An electrohydrodynamic (EHD) thruster is a propulsion system that uses a high-voltage electric field to ionize air and create “ionic wind,” which generates thrust without moving parts. When ions form on the emitter electrode, they accelerate towards the collector electrode and by doing so the neutral air molecules experience a ‘thrust’. In our model the aluminium foil acts as the emitter electrode and the copper wire acts as the collector electrode.

PARAFFIN WAX

Paraffin wax acts as a Phase Change Material (PCM) by absorbing and releasing large amounts of energy during its solid-to-liquid phase transition. It has the added advantage of being non-toxic, chemically inert and cost-effective. In our model we use it to trap solar heat in order to create thermal plumes of air.

THERMO-ELECTRIC PELTIER

A thermo electric peltier is a thermal control module that has both “warming” and “cooling” effects.it transfers heat between two junctions when a direct current voltage is applied causing charge carriers (electrons in n-type material and holes in p-type material) to move through the semiconductor pellets.

Through countless hours of optimization, we have currently achieved a Residuum velocity of 80 percent. While that is extremely eventful, we wish to optimize our model to the fullest
