LeChalo is an innovative smart blind stick created to enhance independence, safety, and confidence for visually impaired individuals. Traditional white canes provide only limited awareness of the surroundings, often failing to detect obstacles above ground level or sudden hazards like steps, potholes, or hanging objects. LeChalo solves this challenge using advanced ultrasound or ToF sensors that continuously scan the path ahead. The system processes these readings in real time and provides intuitive vibration or sound feedback, allowing users to react instantly and avoid danger.
Beyond obstacle detection, LeChalo includes an integrated SOS alert system that connects to a mobile device, enabling users to quickly call for help in emergencies. Designed to be lightweight, affordable, and durable, the device is built to withstand daily outdoor use while remaining comfortable to carry. With additional improvements, we aim to reduce costs further, refine design, and eventually make LeChalo accessible to low-income communities and visually impaired individuals who need it most.
