Electric vehicles charge automatically while moving, eliminating long charging stops and queues. The porous granite top layer allows rainwater to pass through, preventing potholes and collecting water in underground storage systems. Solar-powered streetlights provide clean energy to the charging coils, creating a renewable, self-sustaining ecosystem. This innovation increases road lifespan, reduces city flooding, saves water, and makes travel faster, cleaner, and safer for everyone.

Next Gen Smart Roads is an advanced, future-focused mobility and infrastructure solution designed to address some of India’s most persistent urban challenges: slow EV charging, rain-induced road damage, and large-scale wastage of clean rainwater. As cities expand and electric vehicles become more common, traditional road systems are failing to keep up with new mobility demands. Our project aims to redesign roads into an intelligent, self-sustaining ecosystem that improves efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability.
The system combines three powerful technologies into a single integrated road design:

Wireless EV Charging:
Induction coils embedded beneath modular road tiles transfer energy wirelessly to EVs as they move. A receiver coil installed under the vehicle captures this energy and charges the battery continuously, eliminating long charging stops and reducing waiting lines at charging stations. This makes EV adoption more convenient and practical. -
Porous Granite Road Surface:
Instead of bitumen, the road uses porous granite stone that naturally absorbs rainwater. This prevents waterlogging, reduces potholes, and increases road durability. The water passes through filtration layers into underground pipes. -
Rainwater Harvesting & Solar Energy System:
Collected rainwater is stored in underground tanks for community use, gardening, or groundwater recharge. Solar-powered streetlights supply renewable energy to the wireless charging system, reducing dependence on electricity from the grid.
Together, these features create a sustainable mobility ecosystem that strengthens road quality, supports electric vehicles, reduces maintenance costs, prevents flooding, and promotes renewable energy use.
